Unique Venues in Fife

The Covid Pandemic has pretty much scuppered most people’s plans for this year!

As a new business, I had planned to be out and about visiting all the wonderful venues Fife has to offer and reporting back to you fab folks (because there are so many brilliant venues in Scotland, never mind Fife, how will you ever decide!) Instead however I’m compiling my list of ‘must visit as soon as I can venues’.

St Serf’s Chapel at Dunimarle Castle

Literally five minutes up the road from The Cheeky Hound base is the gorgeous St. Serf’s Chapel at Dunimarle Castle. If a romantic chapel nestled in lush gardens is up your street then look no further. Built in 1870 there are numerous opportunities for stunning wedding photos, and if you follow the lovely windy path to the top you have the most glorious views across the Forth from the castle. Access to Dunimarle castle is not possible though, so you will need to find yourself an alternate venue for your reception. Whilst I have been lucky enough to have a wander around the gardens, presently St Serf’s Chapel itself is closed. It’s top of my list to visit as soon as it does open though, so watch this space for an update, although I confess, i’m a little in love with it already! https://dunimarlecastle.co.uk/weddings

The Walled Garden

A venue I have been lucky enough to visit is The Walled Garden. Set in 10 acres and built specifically with weddings and events in mind, this blank canvas venue gives you the opportunity to be creative if you choose, but at the same time there is no need to add any extra props or decor if you don’t want to! With a gorgeous gazebo, you can get married outside no matter the weather and their fairy-tale swing is just too cute. The landscape gardens are beautiful (some of the flowers were so stunning I had to check they were real - they were) as are the views over to the Ochil Hills. The barn is bright and airy, oozes rustic charm and just has a lovely feel about it. Whatever the size of your event, be it small and intimate or large and lively, this venue is well worth a look. https://www.walledgardenfife.com/

Windmill Barn

I’ve not yet had the chance to visit Windmill Barn but I have heard many good things about it. The wee barn looks gorgeous, so cosy and intimate (and I’m such a sucker for a twinkly light). Weather dependant, you can get married in the courtyard over-looking the pond or you might opt for the rustic barn. The pictures on the website look great, so whatever you opt for, it doesn’t look like you will be disappointed. It’s set in a gorgeous location too and whilst you are not likely to see views of the Forth from the venue itself, it is but a short walk away. http://www.windmillbarn.co.uk/

The Den at Culross

The Cheeky Hound gang attended a couple of events at The Den last year (Halloween & Christmas) and can confirm its charm. We just loved it and the events were so well organised. The team have done a brilliant job of the renovations and as a flexible and blank canvas venue with a lovely courtyard, you can let your imagination run wild. They also have an in-house prop hire service called The Attic run by their daughter (so a real family business). Fingers crossed The Cheeky Hound hope to be able to attend a wedding fayre there sometime in the not too distant future. https://www.theden-atculross.co.uk/

Kilrie Granary

Another venue I haven’t visited yet is Kilrie Granary. With a choice of event spaces which can be hired individually or together, it looks like they could accommodate any event, big or small. Have your wedding outside by The Mill, inside the Granary Hall or upstairs in the Long Gallery, all of the spaces look just awesome. It’s another venue which you can really make your own and create the wedding or event of your dreams. https://www.kilriegranary.co.uk/

These are but a tiny selection of Fife venues so keep an eye out over the coming weeks for the second instalment. And if you have a venue you think we should know about, get in touch…Happy Venue Hunting.
