Wedding Trends 2022

I don’t think anyone can deny that the last 18 months have been really tough for the wedding industry - that goes for both suppliers and couples. But looking ahead to 2022, I can’t help but notice how this has played out in terms of trends...

The biggest thing I’ve personally seen is the clear brief that couples want their wedding to reflect them. They want to infuse their personalities into their big day so the guests have no doubt who’s wedding it is. The other biggie is the desire to ensure they create a casual, laidback and fun vibe. After not being able to spend time with family and friends for so long, the message is ‘we just want everyone to have fun’.

So what does this actually look like I hear you ask?

Well there’s no set format, that’s the beauty of it. For some it’s sticking to the ‘micro wedding’ format. Inviting only their nearest and dearest and having a bigger budget per head. A lavish but intimate soiree where the couple get to spend real quality time with their guests and quite frankly, spoil them. For others it’s swapping the sit down three course meal for a more family feasting, help yourself set up. Grazing platters on each table for guests to just tuck into is a massive favourite, or how about a pizza or fish and chip van for guests to fill their bellies with? These ideas works no matter how many guests you have, For others still it’s making a weekend of it. Let’s be fair, the day really does fly by so who wouldn’t fancy a whole weekend to really relax and take it all in.

Now when it comes to The Dress, the relaxed approach continues. Some brides are choosing to have a classic wedding dress for the day but then changing into something more causal for the evening shindig. Others are ditching the dress totally and going for tailored suits or jumpsuits or even just a dress they love (who says it has to be white or ivory?!?). And of course, there are so many pre-loved dresses available you can save money and the environment.

Never has ‘your day, your way’ made more sense. The only rule I’m seeing is that there are no rules.
