Launching a wedding and event prop hire business in lockdown

Hello and welcome.

Launching a new business during lockdown could be considered mad, never mind one that is reliant on weddings and events, but I saw it as an opportunity I had to grab. I’d been wanting to set up my own business for quite a while and it was actually my partner who suggested the idea, as he knows how much I love organising and buying fabulous gems - it seemed like a match made in heaven.

Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, I recently found myself on furlough from my part-time Project Manager role with a Children’s Charity so thought what better time to turn my idea into a reality (and try and distract me from the stress and anxiety that many of us have been experiencing during these difficult and uncertain times) … and voila (yes I’m glossing over the sweat and tears it took to get here) The Cheeky Hound went live on the 1st June!

According to the wedding planning website Hitched, the average total cost of a wedding in 2019 was £31,974. Now I don’t know about you but that seems a bit mad to me. I’m hoping that The Cheeky Hound can help you save some of your hard-earned money. Style and extravagance doesn’t have to mean spending cold hard cash. Maybe be extravagant with your ideas and generous with the welcome you give your guests, by taking your time to select and create an event which reflects your own dreams and personality. Whether you are getting married in a venue which includes some props, so you just want a few key items to really make it your own, or you have chosen a ‘dry hire’ venue so you can really stamp your own personality on it, I hope that you find something you like in our Collection.

So, what’s next…  well the lockdown has meant that a lot of the items I have sourced I haven’t been able to pick up. So as soon as it is safe to do so, I will be heading off in my new pre-loved van (which I think is just adorable) and going on a road trip to collect all my treasures. These will then be added to the website so remember to follow The Cheeky Hound on Facebook and Instagram to keep up to date. I am also on the look-out for some testimonials. As you can imagine, lockdown has also meant that styled shoots have been a no go – so, if you have a wedding or event that is still due to take place in 2020 (I have my fingers crossed it goes ahead for you) and if you would like to hire anything from The Collection – please get in touch. I have some brilliant deals in return for use of photos and testimonials…
